Art@Artificial Intelligence

Are you an artist working with Artificial Intelligence in an existing or future work? Consider this open call!

What this open call is about

With this project we aim at bringing the artistic world in touch with the business world, in order to explore new ways of collaborating and sharing best practices on the use of Artificial Intelligence.

Artists are often at the forefront of using new technologies in innovative ways. In the process they are often exploring new possibilities that might be of interest to businesses outside of the art world.

In a first stage we aim to collect information of past or future artistic projects in which AI plays a vital role. We will build a coherent overview of these projects and make this info available to our network of businesses and art lovers. In a second phase we will reach out to businesses to explore additional opportunities in collaborating with these artists.

Our aim is to bring artists in touch with the business world in such a way that they both benefit from it. -Erwin Van den Brande & Frederic De Meyer

Who can participate?

Using AI in your artistic work can take many forms. As we want to collect as many examples as possible, there are no limits as to how exactly this is done. Whether you used AI for one specific project, even an old one, or whether AI is a fundamental part of your practice, feel free to apply!

This call is open to any type of art: visual art, installations, music, literature, fashion, architecture or design.

In the first stage we are looking for European artists, or artists residing or operating in Europe. Artists outside of Europe are certainly welcome to submit their projects, although it might be harder to physically connect with other people in our network. There are other means to do so though, so do not hesitate to participate!

What are we going to do with the information you provide?

1. VISIBILITY

The submitted projects will be listed in a document as well as a webpage and distributed through out joint network of over 10,000 art and business professionals.

TheArtCouch will use a selection of projects in a series of articles dedicated to the use of AI in art projects. Additionally, Dual&Day will use the outcome of this open call, and a selection of submitted projects, in its public speeches at business events.

2. OPPORTUNITIES

In a second phase both TheArtCouch and Dual&Day will pro-actively reach out to companies that are active, or have a special interest in the field of Artificial Intelligence, and explore with them the opportunity to partner with (a selection of) artists that use AI.

This potential collaboration between businesses and artists could be in the form of:

  • joint collaboration on a specific AI artistic project
  • artist in residence project
  • ideation workshops
  • brainstorm workshops on AI
  • funding of future AI artistic project
  • joint exhibitions
  • public presentations

What’s in for you?

This is an opportunity to gain visibility for your art practice to a network of thousands of people interested in art, as well as businesses working at the forefront of AI developments!

How to participate?

Simply full in this short form. Keep in mind to keep your answers short and to-the-point! We will certainly contact you if we need more information or clarifications.

Timeline

Submit your application before January 7th.

After collecting and digesting the applications, and gather more information wherever needed, we aim to publish the document with all the submissions by Q1 2022.
